What it covers
Architecture literacy, then controls
- AI system architecture: enough understanding of how AI systems are built to evaluate them credibly, not to engineer them.
- Technical controls: access control for training data and models, monitoring, and logging built around AI systems specifically.
- Procedural controls: change management for models, and incident response adapted for AI-specific failure modes.
- Testing and validation: how AI systems get evaluated for security and reliability before and after deployment.
A management lens, not an engineering one
Evaluate controls, don't build models
This domain carries the most weight, but it's still a security-management exam, not a machine learning engineering one. The bar is being able to evaluate whether the right controls exist and are working, the same lens a CISSP® or CISM® already applies to conventional systems, extended to AI.

Do I need to be a machine learning engineer for this domain?
No. AAISM™ is a management credential, not a hands-on engineering one. This domain expects you to understand AI architectures well enough to select and evaluate controls, not to build models yourself.
